Here is the bike photographed in May 2011. Chainstay has got a fatigue crack at sprocket end. Otherwise bike is in good condition, hosting the original BB for example.

Finally Specialized Europe answered to my warranty claim. It took only six months from them to say NO in written. It must have been a hard decision because honestly they have to understand that the frame design is faulty.

The reason to deny warranty was that I had myself assembled the bike from factory box. On the box is printed: "Warranty void unless assembled by authorized dealer". There is not much assembly work really, even the rear wheel is already in place. So that was taken merely as a formal reason to void warranty. Well, if they dare to hide behind a formal reason when a three years old bike has got a fatigue crack, they of course can do that.

The important text is shown in this picture taken after I (not authorized) had done the assembly (the important text is partly shown behind the rear wheel):

After 3 years and 18124 km on odometer the chainstay gave up because an amateur had assembled front wheel and handlebars:)

Tricross R.I.P

I'm starting a blog about experiences with Specialized Tricross Single. Well, the unfortunate fact is that the frame snapped at chainstay quite early, @18000kms, and it seems that I will not be covered by the "limited lifetime warranty". I'm the outlimited one probably:). But I'll update a full story later on. Here is one picture of the sad frame:
